OMSI 2 Berlin line 300. (Review & fix in description)

Here is a drive around on Line 300 in Berlin in a MAN New Lions City.

If you’re thinking of buying this DLC (at a pricey £16.75 for just one 30 minute route), then you should probably consider the following things.

Bad points: The map essentially won’t run in its “out of the box” condition. The AI cars / vans are buggy and cause no end of errors. Your bus will bounce all over the place for no reason and it’s laggy and unplayable.

However, there’s a bit of a fix. I’m not saying this will work for you, but it made my map playable. I swapped all AI cars, vans, emergency cars and taxis from the AI list on the map and swapped them for better performing models from other maps. I also changed the park list and the second park list that are included with the map for other static models.
Secondly, while the included solaris electric bus is excellent, it’s very performance heavy. I took it off my AI list and swapped it out for a C2.
These tweaks are sadly necessary to get the map into some sort of playable condition. Even then, FPS is low in some parts. I found the MAN New Lions City to be the most performance friendly bus on the map, which I’m driving here.

Good points: The modelling is excellent. Buildings have depth and are well made with good texturing. The city feels alive. The endless roadworks cause the same frustration that they would cause in real life. Traffic is well pathed. Timetables feel real.

Overall once you’ve fixed the problems, it’s quite a nice drive. Not at all worth nearly £17 for one small route. But that’s OMSI!
