More than half of Japan's LDP lawmakers said to have ties to controversial church

Japan’s ruling party has revealed that nearly half of its lawmakers had links with a controversial church group, which was entangled in the assassination of former leader Shinzo Abe. Mr Abe, Japan's longest-serving prime minister, was shot and killed at an election rally on Jul 8. The revelations have rocked the country, arousing widespread public opposition against Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s decision to hold a state funeral for Mr Abe later this month.
