Katherine (not yet Katie) Couric stopped by Dadeland Mall in mid-December and found Christmas shopping in full cry. The mall's parking lot was jammed, as was the mall and the whole crazy whirl was beginning to wear on some shoppers. One woman even suggests that next year she'll resort to "catalog shopping!" Is there no bottom?

Couric's story is rounded out with aerial footage of Dadeland's parking lot on Christmas Eve, also aired in December 1980.
