CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — 23,080 - that big number is how many pre-made meals of oatmeal seniors at the Porter-Gaud School in Charleston packaged for their neighbors in need Monday. It's part of the school's traditional Senior Day of Caring.

It was started 16 years ago in response to the giving spirit sparked by the 9/11 attacks.

"There's so much need in the Charleston community. The national community. The global community," said organizer Gretchen Tate. "So, we're just doing every little bit we can to help give back."

"It's really meaningful to be able to work together as a grade to devote to a cause we're all really passionate about," said Caroline Van Hoy, one of the participating seniors.

The entire senior class of more than 100 students took part this year.
