Capri, the Socialite Island of the Mediterranean :)
The Island of Capri, off the Sorrentine Peninsula in the south of the Gulf of Naples, has been one of Italy's favorite summer resorts since the Roman Empire. The British author D.H. Lawrence described this exquisite island, which he had the opportunity to visit twice, as "a gossipy, villa-filled, layered limestone place that resembles heaven but does not resemble earth at all" and expressed how impressed he was by the island.

Capri Island, famous in Italy for its world-renowned local wines, impressive blue caves, hills reaching up to the sky, and architectural structures dating back to the imperial period, is also a perfect escape route for Italians. In the 1960s, the celebrity press set up camp on the island, where names such as Jacquline Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Brigitte Bardot are among those who frequently vacation on the island.

Located opposite the city of Naples and transformed into the administrative center of the Roman Empire, the island is today one of the most tourist-attracting places in Italy.

Life on the island takes place in Capri Town's two centers, Monte Tiberio and Monte Solaro, and Anacapri. The main port, Marina Grande, is a base where transportation to the mainland is provided. If you want to see the beautiful streets of the island more closely, I would suggest you explore the island on foot and do not rush this beautiful island. The 17th-century San Costanzo Church, which made a big splash with the movie "It Started in Naples" starring Sophia Loren in 1958, is still standing to the west of the marina, the ruins of the Palazzo a Mare, the palace of the former emperor Augustus, and the Tiberius Beach.

The island of Capri is divided into two regions, Capri and Anacapri, each with its own unique character. While Capri is where you get off the ferry at Marina Grande, Anacapri is the other part of the island that is higher up.

Grab a seat next to the window for a 15-minute bus or minibus ride from Capri to Anacapri, or walk slowly. The minibusses drop you off near Piazza Umberto I, the center of Anacapri. Another alternative is to take the funicular from Marina Grande through the lemon groves and take about 3 minutes to reach the beautiful heart of the island.

So how do you get to Capri?
Capri can be reached by ferries departing from Naples or Sorrento. In the summer months, tours to Capri can be found as part of package tours from Amalfi and Positano. There are slow ferries that take 1 hour and 20 minutes to go from Naples to Capri, and fast ferries that take 45 minutes. Fast ferries depart from the Molo Beverello port in Naples, and slow ferries depart from Calata Porta di Massa.

When I close my eyes and remember Capri the first thing that comes to my mind is that breathtaking view I had from the terrace of the gardens of Augustus: an unforgettable panorama overlooking the sea where I could see Mount Solaro, the bay of Marina Piccola and the Faraglioni.
