Описание к видео Christian nationalism and the January 6 insurrection: New report

This is a recording of a live webinar releasing a report with the most complete accounting to date of how Christian nationalism contributed to the events leading up to January 6 and the day of the attack itself. It is a joint project between BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty), the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and Christians Against Christian Nationalism.

The comprehensive report was released during this webinar on February 9, 2022, and you can read it at this link: https://www.christiansagainstchristia...

The webinar features the following report contributors:
*Dr. Andrew Whitehead (starting at 9:25), Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the Association of Religion Data Archives at the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at IUPUI
*Dr. Samuel L. Perry (starting at 12:12), Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma (and co-author with Dr. Whitehead of "Taking America Back for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States")
*Dr. Jemar Tisby (starting at 16:24), historian of race and religion and author of "The Color of Compromise: The Truth About the American Church's Complicity in Racism"
*Katherine Stewart (starting at 21:32), author of "The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism"
*Andrew L. Seidel (starting at 29:28), a constitutional attorney at the Freedom From Religion Foundation and author of "The Founding Myth: Why Christian
Nationalism Is Un-American"
*Amanda Tyler (starting at 41:25), executive director of BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty) and leader of the Christians Against Christian Nationalism initiative

Tyler serves as emcee of the release event, and it also features opening remarks from Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president and co-founder of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

As the report states in its introduction, "Dismantling Christian nationalism will take a broad and diverse response from individuals and organizations committed to effecting change. This report is sponsored by Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (BJC) and Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). These two organizations both advocate for the separation of the institutions of government and religion, albeit from two very different perspectives. As we learn more about Christian nationalism and how it threatens to destroy American democracy, we are even more convinced of the need for a national commitment — from religious and secular groups and individuals — to furthering the American ideal that our belonging in American society is not in any way conditioned on or connected to our religious identity. Standing against Christian nationalism is standing up for everyone’s religious freedom — the freedom to practice any faith or no faith without unnecessary interference by government."
