This video is part of our Epic Remodel series, documenting the complete down-to-the-studs renovation of our home — a project that became much more than a facelift after sarcoma cancer and a left-leg amputation changed everything. What began as a planned remodel turned into rebuilding our home for wheelchair access and life after cancer.

In this episode:
Part 6 marks about one month since major remodeling work began. The new metal roof is installed, and out in the garage the framing of the new utility room is completed, right up through the subfloor. Elsewhere in the house, what we jokingly call “surgical demolition” is underway.

While all of this is happening on site, we’re buried in a flood of CAD drawings from our contractor Frank and his cabinet maker, Jeff. From our motorhome, we’re researching appliances, fixtures, entertainment hardware, fireplaces, and more — and placing orders for the items we’ve settled on.

Amy has been working closely with Jeff by email to make sure we end up with exactly the cabinets she wants, along with the desk he’ll be building for her in the new utility room. There are a lot of balls in the air right now, and we’re doing our best to keep them all from dropping.
