Historic Downtown Frankfort, Illinois - Let’s Explore Together 7.17.24

Join me this morning as I explore historic downtown Frankfort, Illinois! Such a beautiful small town here in the south suburbs of Chicago. Let’s go for a walk together and see all that this lovely community has to offer. We’ll see the shops - including candy shops, boutique shops, even a guitar store, plus cafes and restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses.

Downtown Frankfort is surrounded by some lovely old homes, and the Old Plank Road Trail cuts right through the main center of town. This 22 mile trail is built on an old, abandoned railroad line, making a fabulous hiking, running, and biking route going through many of the area towns. Plus, we’ll see an old water tower, and the famous Frankfort icon and landmark - the Frankfort Grainery.

The Frankfort Grainery building can be seen from miles around, and is the backdrop for all the town events, including the Frankfort Fall Festival, and the weekly Frankfort Country Market. We’ll learn the history of this building - including some recent history - and dive into some details on Frankfort’s largest annual events. We’ll end our walk on Breidert Green in the center of Frankfort’s historic downtown.

Plus, we have an extra special guest who joins me today - my mother! Mom has officially joined me on a livestream, and this day is truly historic.
