DGCA Initiates Investigation After Air India Flight Reports 'Uncommanded' RAT Deployment

The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has launched a probe after an Air India Boeing 787‑8 flight reported an “uncommanded” deployment of its Ram Air Turbine (RAT) during final approach to Birmingham. The incident involved flight AI117 originating from Amritsar, where the RAT deployed at an altitude of around 400 feet despite normal electrical and hydraulic parameters.
