Following the events of Avengers:

Endgame, Thor Odinson is adrift.

He has left the leadership of New Asgard to King Valkyrie and joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, but he is still searching for his purpose in life. His journey of self-discovery is violently interrupted by a new galactic threat: Gorr the God Butcher.

Gorr, a broken man who witnessed the death of his daughter and was ignored by his god, has acquired the necrosword-a weapon that grants him the power to slay deities. He vows to exterminate all gods across the cosmos.

Thor's quest to stop Gorr reunites him with his ex-girlfriend, Dr. Jane Foster.

To Thor's shock, Jane is now worthy of wielding Mjolnir, which was destroyed by Hela but has been mysteriously reassembled. As the Mighty Thor, she joins the fight. However, Thor soon learns that Jane's power comes ata terrible cost; Mjolnir is temporarily sustaining her life while she secretly battles stage IV cancer.


The trio of Thor, Jane (as Mighty Thor), and Valkyrie race across the universe to rally the gods at their golden citadel, Omnipotence City, but find them led by the arrogant Zeus, who is cowardly and unwilling to help. After a confrontation, Thor steals Zeus's thunderbolt and they set out to find Gorr.

Gorr's true plan is revealed: he doesn't just want to kill gods; he wants to use the power of the Eternity-a mythical realm at the center of the universe-to make a wish. He intends to wish for the extinction of all gods. To find Eternity, he kidnaps the children of New Asgard, including Astrid, the daughter of the town's leader, knowing their innocent prayers will act as a compass.The final battle takes place in the Shadow Realm, where Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie fight to save the children. Jane's cancer progresses rapidly during the fight, but her heroism allows Thor to reach Eternity. Gorr arrives and is about to make his wish when he has a change of heart after seeing the love between Thor and Jane. With his dying breath, Gorr asks Eternity to bring his daughter back to life. Thor adopts the resurrected girl, Love, and becomes her guardian, embarking on a new chapter as a father.
