Two weeks of on-and-off work while balancing college crammed into a three-and-a-half-minute video. Yay, suffering.

(Also, the K6-2+ wasn't the only nerfed chip here. The MII was damaged by its previous owner and had to be overvolted from 2.9 volts to 3.5 volts to even boot at all. For fairness, the K6-2+ was underclocked to 225MHz for a clock-for-clock comparison.)

The Cyrix MII, AKA the 6x86MX, was the last publicly released x86 processor made by Cyrix before they were acquired by VIA, and supported 686-level (Pentium Pro/Pentium II) instructions such as CMOV--the first and only Socket 7 chip to ever do so. Its would-be successor, the MIII, slated for release on both the Super Socket 7 and Socket 370 platforms, was ultimately scrapped, along with just about every other Cyrix-built technology, when VIA decided to instead use the much slower (but more efficient) Winchip core from Centaur Technology, which they had also acquired.

Perhaps in an alternate universe, we'd have an MIII chip supporting Pentium 3-level instruction sets such as SSE on SS7.

Oh well. The Cyrix MII kinda sucked for everything outside of office use anyway. Not that the true performance of the competing AMD K6-2+ was really brought out in any way in this video.
