You've heard us all at 11:FS talk about the Banking Battlefield, but when it comes to the US, the landscape is quite different - though the Banking Battlefield still applies.

It's a highly competitive market, dominated by the major players but populated by smaller community banks. There are over 5,300 banks and over 6,000 credit unions in the USA, so when it comes to consumer choice - that isn't necessarily an issue.

And the market is huge. These institutions are fighting over 350 million customers, and yet 81% of deposits are held by the top 100 banks, and 45% of those deposits are held by only *four*: Bank of America, Citi, Chase, and Wells. That's market dominance for you.

5000 of those 5,300+ banks are Community banks, and if you combined the assets of those community banks - it just about matches the assets of Bank of America.

So how do these institutions overlay in the banking battlefield, and what are they doing to increase customer engagement, and create intelligent digital products?
