*******************************

p speed depends on propeller size, pitch& number of blades. check out how pitch affects top speed:

   • Inflatable boat speed vs. propeller s...

playlist of top speed tests:

   • SIB RIB VIB inflatable boat / tender ...

Correction on top speed with 9.8hp carburetor:
1person 100kg 35kmph/21mph , 2 person 180kg 28kmph/17mph , 3person 260kg 18kmph/11mph, 4person 340kg 10kmph/6mph.

with 2.5-10hp engines on a SIB, every extra weight must be counted for speed.

One person who weighs 70-80kg must be considered as minimum 100kg , because he will have some extras such as 12kg fuel tank , 5kg clothes (in winter), raincoat, 3kg anchor, drinking water, fishing gear, fishing bucket full of water, fish finder, battery etc.

A comparison of boat engines, and top spees that you can achieve with following portable engines:

4Stroke carburetor engines:
2.5hp , 3.5hp, 4hp, 5hp, 6hp, 8hp, 9.8hp

4 Stroke modern engines with ECU and fuel injector:
9.9hp , 15hp , 20hp.

Top speeds are listed for a variety of boat size, passenger quantity and engine power to give an idea on how much power is needed to get the boat on planing speeds on a calm sea.

Actual top speeds will vary with wave height, wave direction, total weight, weight distribution, engine trim, season, wind, currents, marine traffic and a lot of other factors.

In the video, there may be a confusion between 9.8hp carburetor, 9.9hp carburetor and 9.9hp fuel injection engines. 9.9hp injection models are much more powerful than the carburetor models, because they are the restricted versions of 15-20hp injector models, they have larger cylinders, injection systems and engine control units which means you have higher torque and controlled power and higher price. suzuki 9.9-15-20hp has 327cc cylinders whereas a mercury9.9 tohatsu9.8hp has 208cc.

fuel consumption at top speed:
1liter per every 3hp in 1 hour

example:
9.8hp engine, 330cm boat, 2 person onboard, travelling at 25kmph top speed
9.8/3=3.3lt per hour & 25km per hour
=13lt/100km = 20mpg

6 hp engine, 270cm boat, 1 person onboard, travelling at 25kmph top speed
6/3=2lt per hour & 25km per hour
=8lt/100km = 30mpg

6hp engine, 270cm boat, 3person onboard travelling at 7kmph top speed (not able to plane, too heavy )
6/3=2lt per hour & 7km per hour
= 28lt/100km = 10mpg
