The day is celebrated on Sunday at the premises of the Heritage Museum in the municipal town.

Despite the hostile weather, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and District Awami League General Secretary Barrister M Enamul Kabir Emon, Deputy Director of Local Government. Zakir Hossain, Municipal Council Mayor Nader Bakht, Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Ali Amjad, General Secretary of District Sports Association Dewan Imdad Reza Chowdhury, senior joint convener of the district Juba League Asaduzzaman Sentu, president of the district Chhatra League Dipankar Kanti Dey and others ​laid wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.

Leaders and activists of various social and cultural organizations including Krishka League, Shramik League, Chamber of Commerce, Sunamganj Reporters Unity, District Sports Organization, District Scouts, Kornikar Free Scouts Group also paid their respects.
