In this episode, I dive into how professionals can effectively partner with parents as part of multidisciplinary teams during IEP meetings or within autism therapy teams. As both a parent and a professional, I understand how vital it is to assess not only the child’s needs but also the family’s needs across all environments, including home, school, and the community. This holistic approach ensures that the goals we set in IEP meetings are truly reflective of what will benefit the child the most.

I also discuss the importance of training parents to use evidence-based practices at home. By doing so, we can reinforce what is being taught at school, or in therapy, leading to better outcomes for the child.
