This is a second hand blade and one of the earliest examples. Jason at Evolution Blades considers it a prototype but I would think the way it was originally purchased would fall more in line with a first generation retail product. The point is, this is both second hand and very early in the production.

Motohara has base models starting at $1800 and other customization options that could add up to several thousand dollars.

Fuchi/Kashira:
Fitting quality is acceptable but not at the same level of quality as the rest of the sword.
Transitions are good
Well placed and even
Excellent fit and finish apart from generic material quality.

Tsuka:
Ito is tight
More rounded grip than many other swords, I find it very comfortable
Samegawa is panels and no emperor node
Shape has a slight waist
Mekugi were hard to remove but handle came off as intended without needing to be hammered
Tsuba:
Unique look
Small like an antique
Not a lot of zazz
Fits well

Habaki:
Best habaki I have seen on a production semi custom katana
Fits well
Looks great
Decorated
Has dimension

Saya:
Shitidome fit and work witohut popping out
Saya has a thick koiguchi area and a tapered thin kojiri
Excellent fit
Holds habaki well
Held up well over time

Blade
Not as sharp as I would like
Polish is great for the price
Blade holds up well to intended target
Rolled on edge on water bottle

Dynamics:
Feels excellent in every way. Moves like an iaido but cuts like a lawn mower. Light weight means I have to provide momentum and the sword will not do the work for me but when momentum is provided, it is an amazing cutter. Sword feels great in the hand. No complaints when it comes to iaido.

Cutting
Tatami - just need to get it moving
Bottles - not advised
