Playing with a Yaesu FT857D on 40m and the AM broadcast Band. Does Your Yaesu FT857D sound like crap on the AM broadcast band... this may help. EDIT: I'm slowly getting more familiar with this menu driven radio... turn of the noise blanker NB and then select the DNR DNF DBF menu line above the bottom row of 3 buttons and turn them all off. This will make AM radio sound fine. As the old saying goes... if all else fails fish the instructions out of the bin!
