RAM 2500 REBEL HD (6.7 Cummins) | It CAN'T Tow 17,000lbs ** Diesel Mechanic Explains **

The RAM 2500 REBEL HD Can't tow the max rated 17,000 pounds RAM claims. I explained why this RAM REBEL HD with the 6.7 Cummins actually tows less weight then the 6.4 HEMI. It's all due to the very low Payload with these new RAM 2500 REBEL'S when equipped with the 6.7 Cummins.

I came across a very interesting comment a couple days ago showing a clip from a fella down in Texas at the reveal of these new RAM 2500 HD rebels with the 6.7 Cummins in it. this clip showed a payload sticker on the truck of only 1,483 lbs which at first I thought must have been wrong. but then looking in deeper it looks like that true.

to me this is shocking. this RAM rebel HD was supposed to be everything the ram 2500 power wagon was not. it was supposed to have much more payload and much more towing ability while maintaining a lot of off road performance.

so with a max payload of only 1,483 lbs. There is no way this truck can 17,000 lbs safely. when towing you need 10% of the trailer weight on the truck and having 1,700lbs of trailer weight on the truck would mean the truck is overloaded.

the other major thing I found is that in order to even get the max towing ability for this ram 2500 hd rebel is you need to option the truck with the 6.4 hemi gas engine. not the huge 6.7 diesel engine.

This ram 2500 rebel hd with the Cummins can only tow a max of 14,920lbs. almost 2,000lbs less then the gas engine. to me this makes absolutely no sense. you are going to pay 12,000 dollars for an engine that tows less weight. It makes no sense.

so this was disappointing to hear. I think a lot of people will be disappointed once they also here this. because nobody has really mentioned this fact at all at the reveal in Texas.

So I guess I was wrong. maybe the 6.4 hemi gas engines will sell in this ram rebel because you get the max payload of over 3100 lbs and actually get the max towing capacity of the 17,000lbs.
