 Down Cemetery Road will be returning to Apple TV. The British mystery series, which premiered on the same day that Apple TV's popular espionage show Slow Horses aired its season 5 finale, is based on the novel of the same name by Slow Horses author Mick Herron.  The series stars two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson as Zoë Boehm, a private investigator who is hired by Sarah Trafford (Ruth Wilson) to find a missing child following a house explosion.  Apple TV has renewed Down Cemetery Road for season 2, just two days after the season 1 finale. Director Börkur Sigþórssen (The Midwich Cuckoos), who helmed episodes six through eight of season 1, is set to return for season 2, this time as the lead director. In season 2, Sigþórsson split directing duties with Natalie Bailey (Joe vs. Carole) and Sam Donovan (Severance).  Read the official synopsis of the upcoming season below:  Emma Thompson, who is also an executive producer on the series along with Herron, Tom Nash, Jamie Laurenson, and Hakan Kousetta, shared a comment about Down Cemetery Road's renewal, exclaiming that she is excited to reunite with Wilson and the show's writer-creator-EP Morwenna Banks. For instance, on Rotten Tomatoes, the Apple TV show received a solidly Fresh score of 79% from critics on the Tomatometer.  Additionally, Down Cemetery Road debuted at No. 3 worldwide on Apple TV, consistently maintaining a place in the streaming platform's Top 10 throughout its run. At the time of writing, it has risen to become their No. 2 series worldwide, behind only the smash hit Vince Gilligan show Pluribus, which was recently nominated for two Golden Globes.  From the sound of the synopsis, season 2 of Down Cemetery Road will find its lead characters in even more dire straits following the explosive season 1 finale.
