Cape Brewing Company (CBC) is going digital by introducing a new social sharing app that lets fans follow the journey of CBC’s new Pale Ale around South Africa and beyond.

The new app, called ‘Love the Journey’, uses location-tagged photographs to track the total distance CBC fans collectively travel with their can, while giving them the opportunity to take and share pictures and stories of their adventures with CBC’s craft beer. Fans can see the total distance the CBC’s new can has travelled, view, say ‘cheers’ to, and comment on others’ pictures in a live feed, and see a map of all the places the can has travelled to on the app’s accompanying Love the Journey microsite.

In addition to enjoying posts by other fans, users will also earn badges for travelling with CBC’s new can. Currently, badges can be earned for travelling all the way from 50 km up to 15,000 km. Another set of badges will be be awarded for posts which reach at least 10 ‘Cheers’’ from friends and followers.

By signing in to the app with Facebook, fans can also post pictures taken with the app and share them through Facebook and Twitter.
