Is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro really worth it? 🏔️ When we first arrived in Tanzania, we weren’t sure. The journey is expensive, time-consuming, physically demanding, and requires careful planning. But after taking on this challenge, we can confidently say—it’s one of the best journeys in the world.

In this video, we’ll share our experience of climbing Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route in February 2021. Over six unforgettable days, we journeyed through diverse landscapes: tropical rainforests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and the snowy summit. Each day brought new surprises, from breathtaking sunsets to incredible friendships with our guides, porters, and fellow climbers.

Whether you’re the first to the top, battling every step, or don’t make it to the summit, this mountain has something to offer everyone. It will challenge you physically and mentally, push your limits, and leave you with memories and connections to last a lifetime.

Who is Team Erica Alex?

We are Erica and Alex, high school sweethearts who are addicted to adventure.

As of December 2024, we have quit our jobs and left the US to travel the world to go on our biggest adventure to date.

Since 2014, we have lived in California, Texas, and Washington together and have traveled extensively across North America and parts of Africa and Asia. We love being outside exploring nature as well as being immersed in cultures very different from the US and meeting people from around the world.
