The Penn State Opera Theatre and Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra present a fully staged Opera Gala at 7:30 p.m. on April 4, 2024, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

The program opens with Act One of Puccini’s La Rondine, a story that explores the meaning of true love while in Belle Époque Paris. The act contains soaring melodies, with arias like “Chi il bel sogno di Doretta” and “Ore dolci e divine.” Next is Act Two of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, featuring the dancers from Nittany Ballet and choreography by Rebecca Maciejczyk. Lastly, the evening ends with the riveting, hilarious, and tuneful Act One finale of Mozart’s Così fan tutti. This program is directed by Ted Christopher, conducted by Gerardo Edelstein, Ying Lam Chu, and Javier Gorelik, and will feature both undergraduate and graduate students from the School of Music.
