Circularity for Sustainability: Recovering Resources for a Circular Economy

Описание к видео Circularity for Sustainability: Recovering Resources for a Circular Economy

As the world transitions from a linear "take-make-dispose" model to a circular economy, the importance of embracing the theme of "Circularity for Sustainability" cannot be overstated. This holds true for the water sector, considering the global situation at present. Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) hold significant untapped potential for resource recovery and can play a vital role in facilitating the shift towards a circular economy. Integrating STPs into the circular economy is a crucial step towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

With the help of innovative technologies, STPs can serve as centers for resource recovery, extracting valuable resources from wastewater, such as treated wastewater for non-potable purposes, renewable energy from biogas, and nutrient-rich fertilizer. Therefore, utilizing STPs in the circular economy has immense potential to transform wastewater treatment into a sustainable and resource-efficient process.

At VA Tech WABAG, we are committed to sustainable solutions for a better life. That’s why we have even optimised the processes that go into Total Resource Recovery; reducing energy consumption and waste generation, while ensuring efficient treatment, nutrient recovery, biogas production, and saving precious urban land by eliminating landfill sites.

We have already successfully implemented the Circularity for Sustainability concept with a focus on Total Resource Recovery at many of our projects. We are the preferred partner for the implementation of Resource Recovery Models driven by the concept that each and every wastewater component: water, sludge, and energy are resources with economic value.

Backed by our technical expertise, the plants we have built currently recycle 2.5 million cubic meters of wastewater while 73 sludge treatment facilities generate over 40 megawatt hours of green energy daily.
