NASA Great Lakes Thunder Race #1 – Mid-Ohio August 2024

The MAP Data Systems GT500 Mustang started the race first in the AIX class, but 30th overall due to a very unusual semi-reversed starting grid that had the MAP Mustang taking the green flag somewhere in the middle of the second wave. Driver Cal Lemp used the GT500’s horsepower to take the AIX lead over the orange 12 car. It was an interesting dynamic with the heavy, high-horsepower number 3 Mustang versus the much lighter number 12 Mustang with less horsepower. The 12 car was clearly faster in the slower corners but was at a disadvantage on the straights when the 3 car stretched out its legs with horsepower.
