Today Practical Cities is honored to have the Honorable Mayor of Kochi, Mrs. SOUMINI JAIN, DR. RAJAN CHEDAMBATH, Director of C-HED and PROF. CHETAN VAIDYA Former Director NIUA and SPA, Delhi India, to embark this special day and help us know more and learn about the "Grassroot Urban Innovations in Kochi, Kerala, India".

About Speakers:

Mrs. Soumini Jain is the Mayor of Kochi Municipal Corporation in Kerala, a position she holds since November 2015. She has earlier served as the Chair of the Works Standing Committee in the city government. As being Mayor of Kochi, she is also the Chairperson of C-HED.

Dr. Rajan Chedambath has been the Director of the C-HED for the last eighteen years. As the Director of the C-HED, Dr. Rajan is actively engaged in several grassroot urban innovations in Kochi. He has practical experience in introducing and managing several urban innovations in the Kochi urban region.

Professor Chetan Vaidya is an Architect-Planner with over 30-year long academic, research, and consultancy experience in urban reforms and innovations. He was Director of the School of Planning and Architecture SPA Delhi and was also Director of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). Presently, he is Senior National Urban Advisor at Kochi Smart City supported by GIZ.
