Welcome to Brawley, California where small-town values are BIG and hard work is in fashion. We are a Friday night lights, rodeo riding, agricultural growing, community loving town of 27,000 people and we’re ready for HGTV to makeover our small town! Established in 1908, Brawley, California is a small town full of rich history. Brawley is located in Southern California only forty minutes from the Mexico border. The best way to get to know Brawley and why you should choose our small town is by meeting our community. The making of our video submission is a testimony to the type of town Brawley is; it was put together solely by community volunteers. Our local papers, City Council, Chamber of Commerce, Police, Fire, Military, Teachers, Doctors, Farmers and more all came together to support the community in sharing with HGTV why OUR town is THE town for the HGTV Home Town Takeover!
Who are we? #WEAREBRAWLEY! A community that is culturally diverse and a place where neighbors are considered family. We are home to the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo; a PRCA circuit opener, the gateway to Glamis and off-road adventure, and the winter bread basket of the nation providing over 80% of all winter produce to the United States. From generational family owned restaurants to historic downtown theaters to architecturally unique city buildings, we’re proud to call Brawley home. Over time, community volunteers have played a big role in revitalizing some of our downtown areas. Old buildings have been restored and volunteers have spent their own hard-earned money to replant flowers, grass, and add a sprinkle of love to downtown areas previously overlooked for years. Unfortunately, our town has suffered building fires, earthquakes, and economic hard times that have left previously beautiful areas in desperate need of a makeover. Walkways with tin ceiling tiles have dulled and building facades faded. Our downtown walls are begging to be noticed and our century old homes waiting to have a breath of fresh life breathed into them. From our roofless historic theater, to main street buildings and crumbling curb appeal – HGTV WE NEED YOUR HELP! We ARE Brawley and we’re ready for HGTV to makeover our small-town! #HGTVhometowntakeover
