Yogyakarta- Indonesia’s Special Region? - (Indonesia Vlog #6)

The Special Region of Yogyakarta - in Central Java, reigned by a Monarchy while the rest of the country is governed by the President!

Not just special for the fact it has a Monarch, this place is home to two very special temples, all carved and built from a lava stone, giving them a real unique look. Prambanan and Borobodur.

A lot of the lava stone is thanks to the worlds most active volcano, Mount Merapi, which you can go on a tour to see from a viewpoint, you just need to ask at the reception desk of your hostel. I stayed at the Losmanos hostel, and it was a great atmosphere with all the recommendations

Make sure to make a stop here on your Java tour, as you can get the very nice and comfortable train right to here, and fly in and out too!
