Storm Team 10 forecast from NBC 10 Sunrise for Monday, Dec. 22, 2025:

Cold air returns to Southern New England today, with high temperatures reaching the low to mid-30s under a sunny sky.

By no means is this the coldest air mass of the season, but the breezy northwest wind will make it feel more like the 10s during the morning.

High pressure settles in during the afternoon, turning the breeze off and making things a bit more pleasant for those who still need to run some errands before Christmas.

Clouds increase tonight ahead of the region's next weathermaker that will produce festive snow across Southern New England. It all starts Tuesday morning as a warm front approaches the area, leading to widespread, light snow showers. Snow is forecast to be more festive and decorative than anything, as it struggles to accumulate due to the mild temperatures in the mid-30s.

Precipitation starts to transition to plain rain for communities south of Providence around midday. Snow and rain begin to taper in the evening.

Snowfall accumulations of a trace to an inch for most towns and cities, while 1-3" is possible in NW Rhode Island and further north into Massachusetts.
