Filters are rules that tell Gmail how to manage the emails in your inbox and they may need to be reviewed or removed from time to time.

STEP by STEP Guide

1 - To delete a filter and stop it being used on your emails, you will need to go into the Settings section in Gmail.
2 - To do this, I’ll move my mouse to the top right of the Gmail inbox. You’ll see there are a number of icons shown here but the one I am interested in is the cog or gear icon for the settings section. Let’s click on that
3 - A panel then opens that shows some of the more common settings changes you can make in Gmail but we need to go into the detailed settings of Gmail. So I’m going to click on the ‘See all Settings’ button at the top of the panel
4 - A new window then opens showing a number of heading tabs but the one we’re interested in is the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab. I’ll click on that once to open it.
5 - You’ll see that the top part of this page has a list of every filter that has been created in your Gmail account. To remove filters you can do this in two ways.
6 - You can choose to delete each filter individually just by clicking on the blue delete link shown to the right of a filter. If I click on this, a pop up box appears, asking me to confirm that I do want to delete this filter.
7 - Once you delete a filter, you’ll have to set it up again to add it back into Gmail so be really sure you want to do it. To confirm that you want to proceed, click on the large blue OK button. And Gmail confirms that the filter has been deleted.
8 - You can also delete multiple filters with just one click. You might want to do this if you’d like to clear down your filters list or if you are unsure which filter is causing your problems so you want to remove them all
9 - You can do this by choosing the filters you want to delete by clicking on the check box to the left of the filter name. I’ll choose a few filters to delete in this example.
10 - Once selected, I’ll then move my mouse to the bottom of this section, and you’ll see there is a small delete button shown here..
11 - If I click on that once, the popup box we saw earlier asking us to confirm we really want to delete the selected filters appears. If you are happy to proceed, click once on the large blue OK button. And Gmail confirms that those filters have now been deleted.
