Net Metering:
In a net metering system, the energy generated by the solar rooftop plant is first allowed for self-consumption within the consumer’s premises.
Any excess energy beyond what the consumer uses is injected back into the grid.
A bidirectional “net meter” typically accounts for both power import from the grid and power export to the grid.
The adjustments are made on a monthly, half-yearly, or annual basis.
If the exported electricity exceeds the imported electricity, the surplus electricity supplied into the grid may or may not be paid, depending on the state’s net metering rules.
Consumers receive a single bill that includes both the total import and total export energy. Payment is based on the net amount of imports or exports.
