This is potentially the absolute best place in the entire Grand Canyon to watch a sunset. Where, might you ask, is this? Well it is INSIDE the canyon. Crazy, right? How you get there is simple. You go down to the end of the Desert View lookout, where you will find the most stunning visuals of the canyon itself to the southwest, and the desert plains to the north/east. The difference between this lookout and the traditional Mather Point lookout is that there are far less tourists, and there is not a steep drop off. Instead you'll find a gradual slope that you can easily walk down into the canyon on. This will absolutely change your experience as you get away from the crowds, and experience a magical sunset from INSIDE the canyon. I could not recommend this enough.
