This video shows how to draw the shear force diagram (SFD) and bending moment diagram (BMD) for a simply supported beam with a point load and a uniformly distributed load (UDL).
A shear force diagram shows the variation of shear force along the length of the beam.
A bending moment diagram shows the variation of the bending moment along the length of the beam.
We then work through an example problem to improve understanding and enable the viewer to solve similar problems in the future.
