Lerici, Italy, comes to life in its best food. Get the inside scoop on seafood specialties, farinata vs. focaccia, and gelato. See the beautiful, warm-hued fishing villages: Lerici, San Terenzo, and Tellaro, while we show you our favorite street food and restaurant. You’ll find the riviera setting as charming as Cinque Terre, but no where near as touristy. For anyone visiting the La Spezia area, Lerici is a must thing to do destination. Lerici’s closest international airports are Pisa and Genoa.
Ristorante 1918 Restaurant, in Lerici main square. Visit a seafood restaurant on Lerici’s main piazza, Piazza Garibaldi, where we interview the owner, Enrico, about his secret for the best daily fish, fish ravioli, and fried mix plater, fritto misto, of shrimp, anchovies, calamari, and tempura style vegetables. Taste limoncello or grappa after your meal!
Da Mario street food forno (oven), focacceria and pizzaria, in nearby Romito Magra. Come to this amazing hole in the wall, with a line out the door to discover farinata, a giant, thick crepe made from chickpea flour and baked in a huge pizza pan in a wood fire oven. This hearty staple comes from the Ligurian Coast from Lerici all the way to Nice, France, where it’s called Socca. A crispy crust, and soft center, with a touch of charcoal flavor. Enrico and Moreno’s customers ate pizza topped with farinata. Marios also makes the best focaccia in Lerici, especially if you’re lucky to arrive when it’s hot out of the oven.
La Rana Golosa Gelato, in Lerici’s San Terenzo. The most popular street food in Italy has to be gelato. At so and so we found creamy, inventive flavors that have earned them the Oscar-like prize for best gelato in Italy. Lerici has one of the best and longest seaside promenades where you can join in passeggiata, a late afternoon stroll with ice cream in hand. Wander past beaches, viewing platforms, and shops between the two marinas at each end in Lerici’s main village and in San Terenzo, both topped by a castle.

About Us
We’re Emre and Maia. We’re passionate about travel and food and have lived in, worked, and traveled to 44 countries. We hold five passports between us! Our videos feature local, authentic, and immersive experiences in Europe. We’re multi-linguists who love to engage with people in their own language, while we spend a gap year being curious about everything!
Beautiful Italy launched our trip, where we dedicate a month to each of our stays. Longing for simplicity and freedom, we sold our house, put our remaining possessions in storage, and set out with one suitcase and a carry-on each.
Most people would call what we do, slow travel. We think slow travel is a mindset that works whether you have a few days or a whole year. When it comes down to it, slow travel is really about being in the moment. Taking in all the details, being open to opportunities, and following your passions and whims.
Though we often give you our opinion as a starting point, we hope our videos inspire you to make travel your own. If the slow travel mindset led you to a great and unexpected discovery, please tell us about it! We love to hear success stories!
We like to keep it real. We did not receive, nor do we ask for compensation from any of the enterprises mentioned in this video.
