I've been absolutely captivated by Psalm 113 lately, and I had to share it with you all. This psalm opens the Egyptian Hallel – a collection of praise psalms (113-118) that Jewish families have sung during Passover for thousands of years. What blows my mind is that Jesus likely sang these very words with His disciples at the Last Supper, the night before His crucifixion.

What draws me to this psalm is its beautiful paradox: the God of the universe, enthroned above the heavens, deliberately stoops down to lift up the forgotten ones. The poor from the dust. The needy from the ashes. The barren woman who society had written off. These weren't just poetic ideas – the original listeners would have immediately thought of Sarah, Hannah, and so many others whose stories of redemption echoed through their history.

There's something deeply personal here. Wherever you feel low, forgotten, or written off today, this psalm is a reminder that our God sees you. He doesn't just rule from a distance – He reaches down into the mess and lifts us to places we never imagined. That's the God we're praising in this one.
