STORYLINE:
Rebels in Iraq fired on a U.S. military convoy on Saturday near Haswa, 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of Baghdad, killing an Iraqi translator and wounding four American soldiers, the U.S. command in Baghdad said.
No other details were available.
Also Saturday, a firefight broke out in Ramadi, west of Baghdad, after rebels fired on U.S. soldiers in the centre of the city.
The Americans returned fire but it was unclear whether there were any casualties.
U.S. troops later found two bombs planted outside the mayors office and the second near a college.
Soldiers used controlled explosions to detonate the bombs, after first clearing the area.
Also on Saturday, explosives went off in a car in Baghdad but there were no reports of casualties.
