Two Lancashire Towers.

This video is about two Lancashire towers. Its a beautiful Lancashire walk. Grants Tower and The Tentering tower. Located nor far from Bury Lancashire and near the town of Ramsbottom. Grants tower was built in 1829. It was 50 feet tall and a victorisn architectural triumph. It fell into disrepair unfortunately toppling in 1944. The Tentering tower is also in the town of Ramsbottom and was used by Stubbings vale mill for hanging and drying woven cloth. tentering describes this process. Its also where we get the saying on Tenterhooks. We also look at an episode in 1916 where first world war bombs were dropped by a Zeppelin. The first world war German Zeppelin had been blown off course and its intention was to bomb Derby but ended up dropping bombs over Lancashire.
