How An Electric Strike Works, Remote Door Opener

This is a simple electric strike setup with a manual push to exit button or you can use the remote click button device to unlock the electric strike. The door remains locked when when the power is not applied. This is called a fail-secure electric strike. This mean in the event of a power failure the electric strike will remain locked. There are also electric strikes that are made that operate as a "fail-safe" electric strike meaning that when there is power failure the electric strike will unlock.

Electric strike systems are commonly used in multi unit condo buildings or rental buildings that allow a tenant to remotely unlock their front door from inside their unit by pressing an unlock button. This allows tenants to let in deliveries or visitors without the need to go down to the front door to let someone in.
