Resurrecting a red 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SL/USA model. The car features AC, leather seats, an arm rest, cruise control, 3 speed automatic transmission, both rear view mirrors, head rests, light weight wheels, power mirrors, halogen H4 bulbs, EGR. A car which has been dumped into a barn after being unable to be started. My mission here is to resurrect the car - to manage to start it and to enjoy its ride. Many issues arose. I have been dealing with many devils because of the car not to be able to be started and therefore to be driven. My R107 from the year 1977 is the second generation from three generations of this model. This example is one of the first examples with K-Jetronic fuel injection system with iron cast fuel distributor, one of the first fuel distributors with aluminum diaphragm which on there are no adjustment screws so that the fuel quantity can not be adjusted, with WUR(warm-up regulator) which is actually the control pressure regulator, a 4.5l V8 engine with electronics only in one part, the ignition module of the TSZ-ignition(the breakerless transistor ignition system). The SL R107 series had been manufactured for 18 years, 1971-1989, which makes this Mercedes the longest manufactured Mercedes-Benz car in the history of the factory. First models have been equipped with the D-Jetronic fuel injection system, from 1975-1979 with K-Jetronic system, 1980-1984 with KU-Jetronic injection(the K-Jetronic with lambda probe) and starting from 1985-1989 with the KE-Jetronic fuel injection system. Only the so called L-Jetronic system was not present in the R107s of all the Jetronic systems created by Bosch up to that time.
