Urban flooding - causes and solutions

The phenomenon of flash flooding in cities explained, with causes and solutions. These floodings occured in densely populated areas, and the main cause is the rainfall overwhelming the capacity of drainage systems, such as storm sewers. Other causes are the overflow of rivers and lakes, snowmelt, storm water, and water released from damaged water mains. Some preventive measures should be taken, like keeping the water bodies (canals, channels, lakes, rivulets and rivers) free of encroachment, and de-silting storm sewers.
