On the Frontlines Bridging Specialist: The British Army's Amphibious Rigs in Action

Welcome back to the channel! Today, we've got an in-depth and exhilarating report from the Drawsko Pomorskie training area in Northern Poland. We're following UK and US Army Engineers as they execute a challenging amphibious crossing with a convoy of 16 British bridging vehicles—the largest deployment of these M3 amphibious rigs in a decade.

These specialized rigs are pivotal for moving combat power swiftly across rivers—termed 'wide wet gaps' by the military. In this region alone, spanning over 1900 rivers, the necessity for such capabilities is immense, particularly for NATO’s operations.

Over two days, this squadron will maneuver around 80 Polish vehicles across the river, culminating next week with an ambitious plan to move a staggering 1000 vehicles in just 24 hours!

The M3 rigs, designed by General Dynamics and in service since the early 1990s, can unfold into highly efficient vehicle ferries. These can connect seamlessly to transport multiple vehicles, including tanks, across the water.
