How to start playing chess: a short guide
Chess is a logical game that develops mental abilities. Learning the basics is easy enough, but to become a master - it will take a lot of time and practice.

Basic Concepts:
Board: Alternating black and white squares.
Figures: King, queen, rook, knight, bishop (two of each color). Each piece moves according to its own rules.
Objective of the game: To checkmate the opponent's king, i.e. to create a position where the king is under attack and cannot escape from it.
Check: A situation where the king is under attack. The player who is checkmated must immediately withdraw from it.
Checkmate: A check from which there is no move.

How the pieces move:
King: Walks one square in any direction.
Queen: Moves any number of squares vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
Rook: Moves any number of squares vertically or horizontally.
Bishop: Walks any number of squares diagonally.
Knight: Walks the letter “G” - two squares vertically or horizontally, and then one more square perpendicularly.

Basic Rules:
Beginning of the game: The pieces are placed on the board in a certain way.
Move: Players take turns to move.
Taking a piece: A piece is taken by standing on the square it is attacking.
Castling: A special move by the king and one of the rooks.
Draw: A game may end in a draw for various reasons (pat, perpetual check, three times the position, etc.).

How to learn how to play:
Learn the rules: Watch video tutorials, read books, or play online games with hints.
Practice: Play regularly with other people or with the computer.
Analyze games: After each game, analyze your moves and your opponent's moves.
Solve problems: Solving chess problems will help improve your tactical thinking.

Remember: Chess is a game that requires patience and constant practice. Don't get upset if you don't succeed at everything at once. The main thing is to enjoy the process!
