Even after retiring from professional boxing, I stayed active. From 2012 to 2019, I was teaching boxing for fitness every day, helping others get in shape. But even then, I let things slip in my own life. I was drinking too much, eating whatever I wanted, and slowly gaining weight. When I got my blood results, it was a wake-up call. Not just because of the high cholesterol, but because the first response from the doctor was medication. Not once did they ask about my habits.
That didn’t sit right with me. So I took control of it myself. I trained like a pro again, cleaned up my diet, cut out alcohol, and kept at it for years. In 2025, I got a full heart scan to check if it made any difference. And it did. My arteries were 100 percent clear. No buildup. No plaque. That is proof that for some people, lifestyle can be more powerful than prescriptions.
I’m not here to tell you what to do. I am just sharing what worked for me. If you’re facing the same kind of health scare, I hope this gives you a different way to look at things.
