Babe Ruth was a British progressive rock band formed in Hatfield, England, in 1970. Led by the powerful vocals of Jenny Haan, the band blended hard rock, progressive rock, and jazz influences. They gained international attention with their 1973 album First Base, especially the hit cover of “The Mexican,” which became popular in clubs and films. Babe Ruth released several albums in the 1970s and is remembered for its energetic sound, strong musicianship, and distinctive female-led vocals in the classic rock era.


In 1975, during their performance in Canada, Babe Ruth delivered an intense and well-structured show that reflected the band’s creative peak in the 1970s. The concert opened with “A Fistful of Dollar,” setting a dramatic and immersive atmosphere from the very beginning. “Sad But Rich” and “Dancer” followed, keeping the energy high with strong grooves and Jenny Haan’s confident vocal performance.
The setlist also included deeper and more expressive moments, such as “Those People Who Are Darker Than Blue,” before reaching one of the highlights of the night with “The Mexican,” which was met with great enthusiasm by the audience. The band then surprised the crowd with “Black Dog,” showcasing power and stage presence, followed by “I Found Love,” which brought a more melodic feel to the show.
The closing track, “Wells of Fargo,” ended the performance with weight and attitude, confirming Babe Ruth as a highly consistent and powerful live band and reinforcing their strong connection with the Canadian audience during the 1975 tour.
