Volkswagen ID.7 Has ErgoActive Seats That Will Stretch Your Pelvis and Spine.
The Volkswagen ID.7's ergoActive premium seats come as part of the €4,450 Interior Package Plus.

Volkswagen was one of the first movers among the automotive industry's legacy automakers to engage heavily in the development of electric vehicles, largely in response to the diesel scandal in 2015. But most of Volkswagen's competitors have quickly caught up and are now offering attractive offers. This makes the new ID.7 even more important.

Introduced in China, Europe and the United States six months ago, the ID.7 is the brand's first EV in the upper middle class and brings with it a number of innovations that could make it the company's most comprehensive electric product. These include the new ergoActive premium seats, which are approved by the German Healthy Back Campaign and are said to make a "significant contribution" to the car's comfort.

The optional ergoActive premium seats were created in partnership with physiotherapists, orthopedists and sports scientists and feature 10 airbags in the seat backs to massage key pressure points. There are also two large airbags at the base of the seats, and Volkswagen says that these cushions work alternately to activate the pelvis and spine through a special pelvic activation function.

ID.7's seats also feature a pneumatic pressure point massage function that relaxes and activates the back muscles. The seats are also ventilated, but the system differs from most others because the fan speed can be adjusted separately for the seat cushion and backrest. There's even an automatic mode that measures temperature and humidity levels between the seat and passenger and then calculates individual climate settings.

Those who want to experience ErgoActive premium seats will have to choose the Interior Package Plus, priced at €4,450 ($4,711). In addition to the seats, this package also includes a 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers and a background lighting system.

Volkswagen ID.7 will reach North American shores in 2024.
