In this episode of In The Kitchen With Matt, I will show you how to eat Mangosteen. Also, have you ever wondered what does Mangosteen taste like? I will describe what it tastes like to me, tell you where they come from and where they grow as well as give you a few health benefits for this amazing fruit.

Where does Mangosteen come from?
The Mangosteen is native to the islands around the Indian Ocean. It is cultivated in Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Borneo, Philippines, Southwest India, in the west in Columbia, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Florida, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, to name a few places. If it is tropical, these will probably be able to be grown there.

Dubbed the "Queen of Fruit" they are eaten fresh, put in salads, and desserts.

What are the health benefits?
They are packed with nutrition and high in antioxidants, moderate amounts of several essential vitamins and minerals, like Vitamin C, B9, B1, B2, Manganese, Copper. They contain a decent amount of fiber. Support blood sugar control, promote a healthy immune system.

What does the mangosteen taste like?
Taste is definitely subjective, but to me, they taste kind of like a mix between a strawberry, pineapple, lychee, and peach. Slightly tart with an explosion of sweetness. They are extremely juicy.
