Northstar - West Ridge to Castle Peak

Описание к видео Northstar - West Ridge to Castle Peak

West Ridge to Castle Peak is an intermediate ski run located at Northstar California Resort. The trails run from the summit of Mt. Pluto down to the bottom of The Backside. The run begins to the skier's right of the top of the Backside Express chairlift and to the skier's left of the summit of the Comstock Express chairlift on West Ridge which gently runs across the top of the mountain. Near the top of the Promised Land Express chairlift, I took a left off the ridge onto Castle Peak. The trail features a steep and consistent pitch before reaching a runout where it turns to the left, passing the bottom of the Promised Land Express before reaching the bottom of the Backside Express.

Northstar California Resort is a ski resort located near Truckee, California. The resort is located in between the towns of Truckee and Kings Beach, which is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe, just off of California State Route 267, just miles south of Interstate 80, and west of the border with Nevada. The resort is located about a 50-minute drive southwest of Reno, a 2-hour drive northeast of Sacramento, a 3-hour and 20-minute drive northeast of San Fransico/Oakland, and a 4-hour drive northeast of San Jose. The resort is broken into multiple separate sections each with a distinct terrain style: the eastern edge of the resort is home to Northstar's Terrain Parks/Pipes, an area dedicated almost exclusively to terrain parks and ski competitions; Mt. Pluto is the main peak at the resort and features a wide variety of trails spread across different sections with the lower half home to a variety of beginner terrain, the frontside being mostly dedicated to intermediates and the Backside featuring some of the resort's most sustained and steep pitches with a variety of advanced and upper-intermediate terrain; the Zephyr area of the mountain is home to a collection of mostly intermediate cruisers located on the western side of Mt. Pluto; and Lookout Mountain which features mostly ungroomed advanced terrain as well as an intermediate trail and the exclusive Martis Camp Lodge, which is reserved for club members. The resort is owned by Vail Resorts and is therefore a destination on the company's Epic Pass.
