A short trip to the English Riviera for the afternoon. This is the seventh time I’ve visited the area this year and the fourth time 5029 Nunney Castle visited Kingswear, this time hauling the Torbay Express. The Torbay Express left Colchester in the early hours of the morning, and ran diesel hauled to Taunton, where the GWR Castle Class locomotive took over to Kingswear, running on time. Upon arrival into Kingswear, 5029 shunted the consist into the sidings, followed by a light engine run to Churston for turning, and then to Paignton Queens Park for water and coal. Resident DSR locomotive and BR Standard 4 No. 75014 Braveheart was on service train duties. The two locomotives, particularly Nunney Castle, made an enormous amount of noise, notably over Torre bank.
