On the way to Valdeorras we stopped in the well known region of Ribera Sacra and visit an old monastery, Santo Estevo de Ribas de Miño.
The Ribera Sacra region is famous for its Mencia wines . The Ribeira Sacra vineyards are planted on the steep slopes of the valleys and canyons of the rivers Sil and Miño.
In Valdeorras we tried exquisite wines made by home families. We visited their private wine caves but also a well know commercial winery in the area called "Alan de Val". . Valdeorras is the homeland of my grand parents . My grandfather was from Villamartin and my grandmother from Seadur, both places shown in this video. The most common wines produced in this D.O (Denonomination of Origin of Valdeorras) are the white Godello and red Mencia.

We had an amazing time on this trip and we did drink lots of good wines. I definitely recommend to visit this region specially if you are into wine !!!
