The story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is probably the most foundational narrative in Judeo-Christian thought. Found in Genesis 2–3, it establishes the origin of sin, suffering, and death through the concept of The Fall. Central to this narrative is the act of disobedience: both Adam and Eve eat the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But what if Adam had resisted? What if Eve had been deceived, yet Adam remained faithful and refused to partake? The implications of this alternate path are vast; human nature starts to look very different, salvation is hardly even necessary and the entire world is placed on a trajectory of peace… a peace that you might say leads to our own stagnation as a species.
