I head into the woods to clear yet another tree that has fallen across one of our trails.
It's a relatively small tree but still contains some decent firewood over it's 12 metres or so of length.
This tree is known as a Hop Hornbeam or (Ostrya virginiana) and is one of the hardest woods of any trees that grow in this area. It is a mid-storey tree in the forest and typically grows up to about 10 - 13 metres or 30-40 feet tall.
